I think it's great the kid is playing. He's having fun and hopefully being supported by his parents and a good teacher. Ya know.... some of the greats (i.e. vinnie) didn't even start playing drums until they were 13. So as far as early development is concerned, you really don't know whats going to come of it till they hit there later teens or early twenties.
I think there was a similar topic before and some of these "child wonders" grew up to not really do much in the way of music. So I guess time will tell with this lil' guy.

Aside from being pissed about it, i am almost as equally entertained seeing a bunch of 40-year olds beating down a little kid... freaking ridiculous.
Matricks! i'm glad that he put up the drums and praise god for that! But what pisses me off is the way parents are using him as a tool to show us "Their" Product. Just like that other kid who were doing great at the age 4 on a Tv-show. It must be a great experience for that kid, but it's kinda like "Let me show you how well my Carrot can say [I love you], or watch my dog do a interpretation of a Anna-nicole Smith.
These kids play well, but it becomes a thing they symbolize with their parenthood, they will eventually put down the drums when they arrive in their Puberty. This may just be rumours, but i heard Royster Jr. doesn't play anymore and is studying Medicine(!)(?).
I would really really really like to hear him in a studio situation, let this kid breathe music!

Before your teens you don't really have the faculty to really focus and you're quite likely to burn out on your instrument by the time you're 18. haha yeah he does look really young, haha the first time i watched this i minimised just so that i wasnt led to any conclusions by age appearence etc...i a couple of things to say though,
1. He certainly doesnt look 15 (not saying he isnt)
2. I used to be a really big obsessive Portnoy fan, and this kid is a basically a clone, now i know hes only a kid and stuff..but since i wasnt being biased towards any appearance, age stuff, anyone can get hold of portnoys dvds, practice for a few months and get learn all his licks, which i dont find so impressive anymore after finding some dude name Vinnie Colaiuta [img]wink.gif[/img]
3. Never-the-less, he is pretty awesome for being so young and i respect his talent and the fact that hes gotten this good already. When the kid matures and if he finds his own voice on the instrument, he could be an awesome rock drummer!

Lol, as it happens I made a thread at that piece of crap forum( god knows why I joined) and ended up getting into a flamewar with that kid, not even realising it was the drummer on the video. Not that I care because I'm not particularly impressed anyway.
